Why didn't I sign up with Rate The Music a couple years ago??
Even if my ratings are just a drop in the bucket, at least I feel like I'm doing my part to shape what I want to hear, short of actually making music of my own.

I find it incredibly convenient how I'm able to post a screen capture for every 5000th song I listen to on last.fm. And to think, if my iPod hadn't short-circuited on me earlier today, my last.fm page would probably display "10001".

Just so everyone knows (and if you wish to follow suit), sick of wasting time responding to Artie, driving home and proving things he already knows to begin with, I proposed to penance that he and I just completely ignore anything Artie has to say. (Although Steve's Red Jumpsuit Apparatus website screen shot was pretty awesome.)
Penance said he'd get onboard, but admitted he didn't know how long he could last before caving in to a provocation he can't let go.
I have every intention of carrying this out myself, because I'm sick of that asshole. I proposed to penance, regarding topics Artie starts, that whoever chooses to respond first should essentially parrot (but not verbatim) the details of the single's release. He liked that idea. Failing that, I guess we could just respond to whatever the first replier has to say. Heck, I have every intention of asking about the details of a song's release every once in awhile, and if informed Artie posted them, claiming I never saw it.
My response in the original "Pen And Paper" topic that proved the difference between English language/grammar rules and being "wrong," that Artie did indeed start it all, and peaking with the donkey clip from Family Guy took way too much time and effort, especially knowing full well that Artie already knew everything I was telling him were the real facts. I even paused more than once and pondered scrapping the whole thing, questioning the worthiness of responding to his asinine drivel. After I went ahead and replied, if for no other reason than to not have completely wasted all the initial time of formulating it, Artie continued to dig in his heels until penance requested the topic be closed and restarted. That's when I'd had enough and thought, "Okay, I'm just gonna completely ignore Artie from now on and penance should at least try to as well."

Yeah, to be honest I probably could've suggested a warning for Artie (he needs 3 more to be permabanned) to the other staff members if penance had kept silent, but the way it was I couldn't really make a good case for warning Artie but not penance for personal attacks. So I opted not to say anything at all in the admin forum.

The internet is serious business. Aww, you f**ker... I couldn't really make a good case for warning Artie but not penance for personal attacks. I reduced my profanity from calling Artie an "asshole" to a "jerk" and changed "give a s***" to "give a damn" before I hit the reply button. More than putting myself at risk for a warning, I just didn't want to allow Artie to be the Joker to my Harvey Dent. That always cracks me up at the end of The Dark Knight, when the Joker, dangling upside down, tells Batman, "I took Gotham's white knight and dragged him down to our level. It wasn't hard." The way he says that last sentence amuses me.

The thought actually came to mind last year that whenever he starts a topic for a song with his ridiculous substandard format that anyone felt the need to reply to, we should start our own topic for the same song, the right way, and ignore his.
But yeah, I mean, he wants to tell me to scan the back of their CD; well I don't give a f*** what the CD says, that's not even the point, being that on their own damn website, sometimes they include "the" and sometimes they don't, so it's obviously not critical for me to include it and have it still be considered acceptable. But what good would it do to reply with that. I'll just play along with Nick and penance.

So I attended my first NHL game tonight, watching the Devils pound the Colorado Avalanche 4-0. They have $15 college nights on Thursdays, and my building organized an outing to the game tonight; thankfully I didn't have to paint my chest to get the ticket. Anyway, it was about everything I could've hoped for: Brodeur posting a shutout in his first game back from injury, excellent play by the Devils, about 100 random "Rangers suck" chants, and a classic fight in the second period. As craven as this sounds, I have to admit the night would not have been complete had that fight not happened, I wanted to see one of those in person. It's so funny how the refs completely back off while the two guys go at it. And the Devils player pretty much owned the Colorado guy; it wasn't close in my opinion.
But as someone who doesn't follow the NHL too regularly, or know much about hockey for that matter, a couple things struck me. I had no idea players could bat the puck out of the air with their hands. I guess it makes sense to do that, but I always thought the puck was as sacred as the ball in soccer in terms of hand-touching. I also didn't realize just how frantic those substitutions are. It just seems weird to me how they don't - or can't - wait for stoppages in play to substitute players in. Finally, hockey shouldn't have cheerleaders. I mean, if you can have them do something on the rink, either wearing skates or on a platform, then fine. But if you're just going to put them on one of the concourses and show them on the video monitor, is there really a point?

I mean, if you can have them do something on the rink, either wearing skates or on a platform, then fine. But if you're just going to put them on one of the concourses and show them on the video monitor, is there really a point? Yeah, I'll never forget getting to play hockey in phys-ed class in high school where another player and I both poked at the puck simultaneously, causing to flip straight up in the air, after which I reached out with my hand and dropped it and scored, causing an uproar, but it was simply because barely anyone knew you're allowed to do that. And I only figured hockey cheerleaders existed only in certain markets in football and basketball country where hockey never really was much of a big deal, and the franchises just want to make the football and basketball fans feel right at home at a hockey match. Generally speaking, the markets who shouldn't have hockey teams probably have cheerleaders. I still have not been to an NHL game in my lifetime, but I am set to attend my first one on March 10th for the Wings against Phoenix. .

As long as it's intelligible, I don't particularly mind his formatting at this point, but in consideration for what lengths I wanted to go to to ignore him, it did cross my mind to start a new duplicate topic for any that he starts. But that would be crossing the line. He has a right to be there and contribute. I'll just play along with Nick and penance. It looks like I was incredibly more serious about ignoring him than penance was, because he already acknowledged and responded to him. Thankfully I didn't have to paint my chest to get the [Devils] ticket. Hot Seinfeld reference!

I don't suppose anybody else here watches American Idol (like I oddly started doing this season, you wanna make something of it?), so that I might have somebody else to talk to about the show?

Re: American Idol Not a big deal. Because I had to work last night, I wouldn't be home to see the this week's results show. So I left a message for my friend and his wife to TiVo it for me, because I was going over to their house today anyway, and could zap right through it. I didn't realize (or had long forgotten) that my buddy's wife actually watches the show and not only that, but she TiVos it whenever she won't be home to watch. So I have a friend to discuss the show with after all.

Somewhere in the 1200s sounds about right, but I'm not at all sure of that. I went ahead and set it to 1200 anyway.

I actually caught part of it for the first time this season a couple days after you posted that. I don't really have much to say though, other than none of the 4 or so contestants I saw impressed me a whole lot. The performance of "Rockin Robin" was especially underwhelming and seemed like a really random song to choose.

They're from Chicago. (I knew Alkaline Trio and Disturbed were.)

Thanks guys. It wasn't really that hard to make through www.xtranormal.com (the site advertised in the end of the video). The part of the 2nd character was actually a compilation of replies to the original story, named Horrible experience.
